TSM Dinner #18, Tony's Spunky Steer, 3/3/12
Boy, it's been a while since this carnivore decimated some bovine flesh with the Mafia. So, it was good to see all the fellas at TSM Dinner #18, (gee I guess TSM is finally legal...kinda ironic that it happened at a place called Spunky). Anyway, Tony's Spunky Steer is an old family favorite, tucked into a little strip mall in Chino CA. The best thing about this place?, the price. For under $30, everyone consumed enough colon-stopping beef to feed several families. Luckily, TSM was up to the task.

Godfather (18th dinner)
Steak: 20oz Tenderloin
Very good. A classic place for a good steak at a great price. Had to wait an hour which kinda sucked, but it's Spunky so I'll wait. The table was ready for like 15min before they seated us - not too good, but still love this place.

Made Man (15 dinners)
Steak: 16oz Stockyard
The "Denny's of Steakhouses". 2nd lowest scores ever, (just above Edward's), but at least it was good to see The Steak Mafia.

TSM, Dinner #14, George Petrelli's Steakhouse - 2/25/11
The Steak Mafia recently convened a few days ago at George Petrelli's Steakhouse in Culver City - wait, what? That was 2011!!! Oh my, this is quite delinquent. Oh well, I guess that means that the Petrelli's steak has just about passed through this blogger. Nonetheless, outdated or not, the Reviews must go on!
George Petrelli's Steakhouse has been around for 50 years, and all the waitresses are the original staff, (or, maybe they just look that way). You can't beat the low-key "teamster-esque" atmosphere of this joint, and the electric train around the ceiling in the bar lends a Mr. Rogers cozy vibe. Nothing fancy here, just good steaks, and a place where you can take your mistress out to dinner without being seen; (seriously, the MaitreD is blind). Now, on to the Review.

Steak: 36oz Porterhouse
Very delicious. Better than I expected. Steak was cooked to my liking. I would return for another steak. Manager was very nice and courteous.
Mitchell
Steak: Extra Large Porterhouse, 36oz
weak blue cheese dressing, good flavor on the steak but too much gristle, best location yet for any TSM dinner! old-school joint.
Gil
Steak: George's Extra Large Porterhouse, 36oz
This steak was big and good. Had to salt it a little but 36oz of lovelyness.
Kelly
Steak: George's Extra Large Porterhouse, 36oz
Took down the 36oz-er and feel very satisfied. So far, it's the biggest steak I've conquered.
Matt
Steak: Xtra Large Porterhouse, 36oz
All around good place to go and have a steak. Also the Petrelli's Beer was very good!
Kris

The New York Grill, Ontario CA
If I can, make it there, I'll make it, Any-where!, it's up to you, New - York, Onnnnnnntario!!! Upon arriving at The New York Grill, in Ontario, CA, this blogger was immediately disappointed to find that none of the employees had even a trace of a New York accent. So, that's suspicious. But, it was the first Steak Mafia meeting of 2011, and, all the employees were wearing ties, so, there was excitement in the air.

Clearman's Steak 'n' Stein - Pico Rivera
So, Clearman's Steak & Stein is owned by the same people who own North Woods Inn, but they have a different name and different location. The Steak Mafia Dinner #9, was at Omaha Jack's in Rancho Cucamonga.
TSM has had many wonderful steak dinners, at a wide range of restaurants, but our dinner at Omaha Jack's was a standout. A truly wonderful steak, as with a good cigar, or shot of whiskey (which I will come back to,) can be enhanced as much by the atmosphere and the company in which it is consumed, as it does with the quality and presentation. Omaha Jack's is a steakhouse on the rise, and their customer service and attention to detail, helped make this place shine and stand out as a cut above most others. But enough with the fancy wording, on to the reviews.

Art: Wow! Very impressed, definitely would come back her! Waitress was great. Steak was great, beer was great, whiskey was great. Bruce is a stand-up guy, he's underpaid, great time!
Mitchell: Bruce, the Cook, came out to make sure we were happy with our steaks, and brought out a free shot of Single Barrel JD for everyone (except Kane), Starla was a fantastic waitress. Ron, the Owner, came out, very hospitable. Food was exponentially better than the decor.
Gil: Rib-eye was great, no complaints here, shot of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel was on the house, thanks to Bruce the cook! I'll be back.
Kelly: Do you think I'm a loser cause I go home 2 Starla every night? Fuhgettaboutit! I live 2 close to poo here! Free shots of whiskey.
Kris:Great Rib-eye! Thank You Bruce for the single barrel Jack & great steak! Thank you Starla, great service!
Shaun:Very surprised w/this place and very good. Good service and even the cook xcame out and answered questions. Waitress was awesome (Starla) and the cook (Bruce) hooked us up w/a Jack Daniel's single barrel shot for free. Place gets an "A" for awesome.
Matt: Waitress rocks! Steaks rocked! This place rocks!
The Deacon: Love the stationary, [of the scorecards] makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Chef=Bruce, Server=Starla, Owner=Ron.
Presentation: have been here several times
Service: Phenomenal
Flavor: Great flavor, didn't need to season a thing
Tenderness: couldn't quite cut it with a fork, but didn't take much to cut.
Side: Great cream of potato soup
Value: worth every penny
Overall: Amazing, beautiful server (Georgia Peach), the Chef came out, talked with us, gave us a shot of JD Single Barrel, also a visit from the Owner...
Aaron: not a "steakhouse" feel to the restaurant (brewery). Service is similar to Chilis, but her accent was cool (Georgia). The waitress, Starla, was excellent. The steak looked plain, but very tender. The flavor was great. The cook made an appearance which adds a point in all columns. We finished a meal with the cook (Bruce) giving us a single barrel whiskey (Gentleman Jack's). Awesome place. The Steak MAfia name seems to be gaining ground.
Kane: Better than I expected.

The Steak Mafia Dinner #8, February 19, 2010
The Steak Mafia visited Logan's Roadhouse in Fontana. Though ordinarily, chain steakhouses are not permitted by TSM, an exception was made for Logan's. #1, they have peanut shells on the floor, and #2, all the servers stop every half hour and break into sing and line-dance; it's just like being at the Double-Duece!

The Steak Mafia Dinner #7
This blogger doesn't want to startle anyone, but he is compelled to post the review of tonights dinner, ON THE SAME DAY! Hot on the heels of 2009, the first gathering of The Steak Mafia 2010 was magnificent!
With 2 new guests in tow, Aaron Edwards and Sam Da Wool, both recent Ontario High grads, the New Year was rang in to sounds of sizzling steak. On Saturday, 1/16/2010, The Steak Mafia visited Taylor's Steakhouse, hidden in Koreatown just west of Downtown L.A. At the urging (begging) of this blogger TSM finally ventured outside of the IE for some city steak. Between the groans and smacking of lips, everyone agreed that Taylor's served up the best Rib-eye in the short history of the TSM.

Art: very delicious steak! one of the best ribeyes I've ever had. A little pricey but worth it. Great ambience, restaurant was cool inside.
Gil: Best ribeye I've had at a steakhouse!!!
Mitchell: great service, very attentive, Ramo's special sauce was the perfect compliment, sides m'eh, steak cooked perfect! medium rare, great ambience, Rat-Pack ghosts hanging out with us, 1st Class all the way around, old school, huge cut, tender, perfectly marbled, 2nd best ribeye ever (no separate checks)
Kelly: It was so good that I poo'ed before I came!
Sammy: Great meal - Great service, drinks never went dry
Aaron: Delicious steak, creamed spinach side was so-so. Ramo was a great waiter, he made a side sauce with horseradish and steak sauce which was awesome. Great 1st steak! The restaurant "look" was great. Homey, a little dark, small, and had a great old-school feel to it.
The Steak Mafia Dinner #6
Welcome fellow steak lovers!
2009 went out with a sizzle and I hope everyone got a nice Rib-eye or Porterhouse in their stocking. (FYI, I happen to know Santa personally, and he likes a juicy reindeer steak every once in a while.) On November 20, the Steak Mafia convened at Lonestar Steakhouse in Corona. Now, yours truly was a little skeptical about going to a more commercial steakhouse, (they don't even let you spit tobacco on the floor at this fancy place,) and by the time I arrived in Corona after 2 1/2 hours on the road, I was a bit ornery. However, after a schooner of beer (extra points for schooners,) and a few bites of my steak, the road rage subsided. The Steak Mafia welcomed a new attendee, Jeff Anderson, and the FNG was a good sport about wearing the apron. Overall reviews were good, much higher than expected, and everyone had a greasy grin on their face by the time dinner was over. Separate checks were allowed and the every half hour the waiters all stop and join in a song and dance routine (must suck to be them) so they don't take themselves too seriously. Decent effort Lonestar.

Godfather: Steak was delicious, not the best but definitely worth another trip, liked all the TVs showing football.
Gil: Steak came well done, (pissed) sent it back, came back rare & good, probably got tossed, stepped & pissed on - but it was good.
Mitchell: great bread, honey butter, schooners of beer!, filet side of the porterhouse cut like butter, for a chain: amazing, attentive service, pale ale on tap.
Kelly: Decent steak. not the best but met all expectations. Don't have to poo though, so something isn't right. Oh wait! I poo'd! Now its complete.
Kris: 1. Presentation- a little bright, 2.Service- wanted to drink my beer not wear it!! and was still charged for it!, 4. Tenderness- Filet was alittle well [done] but New York was good, 5. Side Dishes- steak soup not bad. Wedge salad more blue cheese, 7. Over-all Experience- service ruined what could have been a good dinner
Studio: Big goblet beer mugs were sweet... Cajun spice Rib-eye was fuckin bomb
Matthew: waiter was horrible! If you can't get at least 6 out of 9 orders right, time to find a new job! The steak soup was the best!
Humpty: Had a great time! I love the beer mugs. and the steak was real good, also pumped my bass player, Jeff Anderson came out! Now it's time to get fucked up!
Jeff Anderson: Great flavor of cajun seasonings, cooked perfect! Thanks for inviting me.

Comments:

The Steak Mafia Dinner #5
Carnivores Rejoice!
A very special meeting of The Steak Mafia was recently convened: at the home of the Godfather himself! We learned all about American Kobe beef and how to massage cows to keep their meat tender (Happy Endings not included). Apparently, a large quantity of prized Rib-eye steaks "fell off the back of a truck" and the Steak Mafia was only too happy to clean it up. This was truly a special evening, complete with door-prizes; a bottle of JD for Kris and a case of Bud Light for the Godfather. Of course, it goes without saying, that all TSM members rated the Godfather's generous repast with top scores in every category, (don't want to wake up with a horse head in the bed,) however, just for curiosity sake, I will transcribe everyone's comments.

Comments:
Godfather - Fantastic steak, good sides, good friends, great time!
Gil - Good steak, good company, Cheers!
Mitchell - extra pts. to the Beltran Bros. for wearing aprons, commitment to excellence, above and beyond for the Godfather to host the Steak Mafia in his home, so good I had to have 1 & 1/2 steaks!
The Deacon -
Presentation: Welcomed in by great friends, mound of steak on the center of the table, very nice...
Service: Anytime the host prepares food for 8 hungry men, and satisfies; job well done
Flavor: Having had this steak before, it is consistently the best flavor of any steak I've ever had.
Tenderness: Refer to "Flavor" comment
Sides: Still not a fan of beans
Value: Priceless
Over-all: Good Times as always
Kris - Free steaks = kickass, Lovin The Steak Mafia!, Good poop tomorrow!
Kelly D. - I don't have to poo yet...but I feel it brewing. This was definitely NOT the meeting you wanted to miss! I have the meat-sweats!
Gary - Fantabulous!
Matt - Big Ups, Todd Manning!

The Steak Mafia Dinner #4
Welcome back fellow steak-o-philes, to another exciting edition of The Steak Mafia blog. September was a particularly grueling month for your moderator, and yet, we were able to squeeze in a visit to the Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse, on 9/11/09. Where is the Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse you might ask? Well, it's on the border of Nowheresville, population: 3 squirrels, 1 skunk, and 2 tumbleweed. I used my GPS to get halfway there and then I had to put my ear to the ground and listen for the sounds of steak sizzling over a fire deep in the canyon to make it the rest of the way.
The Steaks were delicious and the restaurant was very similar to Pinnacle Peak, (they say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery,) right down to the cutting off of our ties, (Finally, got rid of that mother-in-law gift!) Even though it took 2 days to get there, I believe everyone was happy with their steak, the results are below.

COMMENTS:
The Godfather:
Restaurant was very cool inside; nice ambiance, liked the blue cheese for the salad; beans and veggies were good; cut filet side [of the Porterhouse] with the fork; little pricey; no separate checks (sucked).
Gil:
no separate checks - sorry!
Mitchell:
extra pts for blue cheese bowls on the table; cut off ties on all the walls; rustic decor, big tree growing though the middle of the joint; mediocre beans, zuccini and mushroom sides; no split checks :( filet side [of Porterhouse] was a 5!, cute souvenir paper tie they staple to your cutoff.
The Deacon:
Pres. - Very remote locationm ties everywhere, trees in the dining area pretty cool
Service - Good, but would have been cool to have separate checks
Flavor - speechless...
Tenderness - perfect
Value - a little high considering distance traveled
Overall - Always a good time hanging with the Mafia
Kris Gohlke (Cattle Killer):
Great steak, cool place, a little pricey. I'd eat here again. Little bit of a drive but good none the less! If "Tricky Dick" can eat here so can I!
Kelly "The Karnivore":
In the middle of nowhere but worth the drive. Good time with good peeps! Need to take a poop again!
Jeff "The Chainsaw" Meat Murderer:
I had a great time!!! The food was good but a little pricey
